About Casey
Casey was a
lovable and eccentric canine character who lived his whole
life in Arizona. He was a soft-coated wheaten terrier who
had many adventures in his backyard and few down the street
when he escaped from home a few times. In his life, he spent
a lot of time pondering things from his windowseat in the
three different houses where he lived with his Mom (see
below). Despite several life-threatening crises, from
rattlesnake bite to an autoimmune disease, he lived a full
life of over 14 years. Along the way, he seemed to be
figuring out what
it was all about. Casey was an inspiration to all of us who
have
a touch of neurosis, but still make it through life our way. And
that is quite good enough. In fact, it is quite excellent.
About Dr. Iris
Bell
Dr.
Iris Bell, Casey's "mom" and co-author, is an educator, consultant, speaker, and writer in
alternative medicine who enjoys dogs, subtle humor and life's
ironies. She lives in Arizona with a motley collection of
three crazy and wonderful dogs. As a psychiatrist doing
research on shyness and anxiety at the time, she found it
amusing to discover that Casey was very shy and very worried
from his earliest days as a young pup. It made him all the
more endearing to watch him enjoy life and make it all work
for him, shyness and all.
